Systems Engineering and Integration

Systems Engineering for Pressure Suit
After having developed over 40 pressure suit systems, including the first U.S. EVA space suit, David Clark Company has developed a unique and proven approach to systems engineering. Our system engineering model includes:
  • Analysis of system mission and determination of top-level objectives, the operational environment and required functionality for each suit system
  • Development of prioritized expectations, design objectives, interfaces, and system boundaries into a formal set of requirements statements
  • Providing design concepts that maximize supportability/operability and minimize complexity and cost
  • Prioritizing evaluation criteria to ensure impact of each requirement on the overall design is kept in line with its relative order of importance to both the crew member and the mission

Utilizing our systems integration approach, we also leverage our existing inventory of pressure/space suits, engineering mock-ups, and computer models to support demonstrations, crew evaluations, and vehicle interface evaluations to progressively develop and refine preferred design solutions.
